Announced on Dec. 12, 2023, via Truth Social, Trump revealed the launch of a new NFT series showcasing an infamous mug shot taken when he was booked in an Atlanta-area jail last August. This arrest was linked to allegations of conspiring to overturn Georgia’s election results.
The NFT collection has stirred strong reactions across social media platforms, with crypto.news compiling a selection of responses to Trump’s latest venture into the NFT space. The collection comprises 2,024 unique pieces featuring the suit Trump wore during the mugshot session, available for purchase as part of 47 NFTs priced at $99 each.
In a video shared on Truth Social, Trump remarked, “It was a great suit, believe me, a really good suit. It’s all cut up, and you’re gonna get a piece of it.”
The cryptocurrency community has responded with a blend of excitement and skepticism to the news of this release. Some enthusiasts expressed their interest in participating, while others remained cautious.
This isn’t the first instance of the former U.S. President venturing into the NFT space. Previously, in August, a crypto wallet associated with Trump was discovered by blockchain intelligence platform Arkham Intelligence, revealing a balance of $2,821,575 based on current market valuations, indicating a significant increase in value.
Reports from August 2023 indicated Trump’s investment in various cryptocurrencies, estimating his investments to be between $250,000 and $500,000.
