Tether, the stablecoin issuer, has introduced an educational program called Tether Edu, aimed at promoting the development of Web3 skills globally. The initiative will increase accessibility to digital product development skills through a range of educational programs, courses, workshops, and master classes led by industry experts.
Tether Edu will have a global reach, with a particular focus on developing countries across Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Asia. Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, emphasized that the program represents a significant commitment to advancing digital education, particularly in empowering emerging markets.
The education provided by Tether Edu covers various categories, including design, social media management, programming and development, artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The company is actively hiring personnel to support its educational mission in these regions.
This isn’t Tether’s first venture into the education sector. In the previous year, Tether entered into a cooperation agreement with the Business and Technology University (BTU) in Georgia, focusing on the development of blockchain and cryptocurrency education. Additionally, Tether participated in the Series A funding round for the Academy of Digital Industries educational project in Georgia in December 2023.
Simultaneously, Tether Holdings Limited reported a “record” profit of $2.85 billion in the fourth quarter of 2023. The company’s total assets, as of January 31, 2024, stood at $97.02 billion, with excess reserves estimated at $5.4 billion, primarily consisting of US Treasuries valued at $80.3 billion.
